More Fun With Pelicanization

3424174337_efece90a3b

Because I never cease to be entertained by people re-imagining things as book covers, here’s Flickr user Little Pixel, who re-imagined some of his favorite LPs as classic Pelican editions.  The Sleeper album above is, incidentally, one of the only Britpop albums I still listen to with any regularity.  (And Sleeper singer Louise Wener also wrote a novel, which is actually pretty good.)

Call For Proposals

From Four Corners Books, makers of Four Corners Familiars:

We are seeking proposals from artists, at any stage in their careers, for a volume in the Four Corners Familiars series. The series presents artists’ responses to classic novels and short stories and participants are encouraged to come up with innovative, distinctive ways of complementing the text, far removed from traditional notions of illustration.

Artists need not be represented by galleries, and proposals are welcome from all sections of society, from which we will publish the selected project in 2010.

New/Old Snicket, Harry, Spiderwick Covers

9_the-carnivorous-carnival-copy

Artist M.S. Corley just posted a series of book jacket re-designs on his blog.  Using the wonderful old style of Penguin Classics, he’s re-done the covers for all the books in the Harry Potter, Lemony Snicket, and Spiderwick series.

I’m especially fond of the Snicket covers–note the VFD eye in each one–although maybe just because that’s the only one of the three series that I’ve actually read.
